Swim meets are a great opportunity for swimmers to bond with each other, to improve their skills and to be rewarded for their efforts both as individuals and as a team. They have such a great experience getting heat or place ribbons during a meet and can’t wait to show them off to their peers. The bond these swimmers form is frequently seen in the off-season as well when our athletes seek each other out and provide support and enthusiasm for success in other endeavors whether it be sports, academics or the arts. Swim meets are a great opportunity for parents to bond as well and we frequently set up a “tent city” on or near the pool deck and get to hang out and support our kids throughout the meet. The kids have such a fun time at swim meets as well and it is always entertaining for the adults to see the activities they come up with to keep themselves occupied between races.
